Couples
Amazon strongly supports young couples with an eclectic taste. The retail site features several categories all dedicated to recommended registry gifts. Browsing through the popular items will help people decide what they might need and, even better, couples can even highlight their secret desire for trying tandem, skydiving or visiting a world famous restaurant in the form of gift card. Labeled as “experience gifts”, these cards provide a buy-in to various sports activities, wellness, cuisine and many other services.
Amazon doesn’t force you to utilize its own site, either. While the chances of the website not having the desired gift might be slim, it has still created the Universal Registry button. This can be seamlessly integrated to the browser’s bookmarking bar, and every time you visit third party sites, simply press the button to add the gift to your Amazon Wedding Registry.
Guests
After finishing the registry customization, it will then become available publicly in Amazon’s database, meaning guests can find it by typing the couple’s name into the search field. If you wish to save them from this manual effort, just share the registry via email, or post it onto your social media page. Guests can easily browse the registry for presents they’d be interested in buying, and after they’ve made the purchase the list is automatically updated, avoiding confusion and gift duplication. Every time a friend or family member purchases an item, the system takes note of their kind gesture in the “Thank You List” , ensuring that the couple will know who bought what. The only feature that seems to be missing is the option to add cash registries. Amazon strictly sticks to Amazon gifts cards, which can then be used to purchase goods from the site.
Gifts
The Amazon Gift Registry deserves a bonus mark for its astonishingly large gift list. For starters, couples can put literally any item from the site in their registry. Some open-minded young adults might prefer a new laptop, an ebook reader or even a music system as a wedding gift, rather than the traditional dinnerware. In addition to the already large catalog, you also have the freedom of adding products from third party sites to the registry. This all adds up to a truly extensive gift registry that could enlist useful, funny or simply crazy gift ideas. On top of all that, Amazon promises free shipping on all items ordered directly from them, not to mention the convenient 180-day return period.
Creating Your Wedding Registry
Since the service is provided by Amazon, if you happen to have an account – and let’s face it, you probably already do – then the option is already available to jump right into registry crafting. The system asks for the name of the bride and the groom coupled with some information about the wedding event such as the date, number of guests, and location. There is even a way to let people know whether you prefer the presents gift-wrapped or not. Managing the registry is quite simple and it grants a basic level customization. For example, a custom background image can be added to create a personal touch.
Customer Service
Amazon’s Wedding Registry doesn’t have a separate customer service, but it provides a very detailed FAQ to make the first few steps easier. They also include a short guide that showcases the main benefits of the registry. As for the customer service, for that you will have to go through the question submission process to find help for your problem. Unfortunately the registry isn’t among the popular topics, and so you won’t find a relevant category. It’s recommended to instead send a general email to the support team or contact them over the phone.
Bottom Line
Amazon has quite an advantageous wedding registry. The fact that couples are not only able to add literally anything from the site with a simple click but may also link other items from third party sites is definitely worth praising. However, the site obviously favors its own products, which it promotes through free shipping and after-event discounts. The registration is fairly quick and uncomplicated, and the same could be said about the registry management. Even though registration of cash is out of question, the Amazon gift and experience cards make up for its absence. The guests will definitely love this kind of registry, and the Thank You List will accurately portray which gift came from who. For couples who frequently order from Amazon, this registry is highly recommended.

Jenna says
I found Amazon to be awful. About half of our gifts were ‘damaged in transit’, so they were never delivered to us. They automatically refunded the buyers (but didn’t give them notice about the refund); but left the items marked as purchased and did not notify us about what happened. So the wedding date has passed, everyone tried to send a gift, but we didn’t receive the items on our registry and Amazon could not have been less helpful.
